This room is often overlooked, it is not the most glamorous or memorable of the king’s private apartments. It has beautifully carved paneling and is often flooded with glorious sunlight.
I particularly like the view through the door, back into the King’s library and into the King’s private cabinet.
These apartments were referred to as the “new rooms” and were added when Louis xvi and Marie Antoinette were trying to distance themselves from the masses at court and spend more intimate time with their closer friends.
